I completed a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts & Animation at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division in August 2017 with a 3.95 GPA, President's List Awards, Dean's List Awards, Best in Show Portfolio Award, and a place on the Honor Roll. These are a few of my projects.

Quadruped Walk Study

These are the two best projects to come out of my 2D animation classes.

The Childhood animation is the star. Although it needs tweaking, it was one of my more challenging projects. I've included the storyboards and designs below. They are all based on a story I was told by a family member of a fond childhood memory.

The Quadruped Walk Study is what its title says: an animation I created after studying the walk cycle of a dog. Having my own pets to observe was very helpful!

3D Animation

These are the four best projects to come out of my 3D animation classes.

The Lip Sync features a caricature of Robin Williams that I designed, modeled, textured, rigged, and animated. I found the audio in a video titled Bdubs Mystery Hair Reveal from BdoubleOLive and it made me laugh so much that I animated it. My professor suggested to put him in a setting that would match a talking head. After some brainstorming, he ended up in a crystal ball. The concept art is included below.

The Personality Walk Study uses a rig given to us in class. I studied different walking styles, acting them out to help me get a feel for how the human body moves, and then made this confident walk based on my observations.

Imagination

The Amazing Engineering short was created for a compositing class. We were given a background to composite a 3D modeled and animated element on. I picked a title sequence for a fictional show called Amazing Engineering and created mechanical arms and parts to build the title. My inspiration was the title sequence for How It's Made, a show I loved to watch as a kid.

The Imagination short was a challenge I made for myself during my special effects class. I want to create something that used particles and fabric simulations in a fun little story. The models were kept simple in order for me to focus on getting the effects just right, as I had stars, fire, and a blanket to contend with. I'm proud of the results!

Design

Design

These are two projects from two classes: one that covered design theory and the other that taught character design.

Brainstorming gives a visual representation of the concept of brainstorming, as its title suggests. The entire creation process is presented here.

Mother Rain and Her Children are characters from a story I wrote when I was in highschool. It was nice to give them visuals and breathe life into them!

LyLa Concept Art

Lyla is a character I designed for my Production class. She became the character that the protagonist, Punkie, drew in our animation: "So You Want To Be A Character Designer". I also animated Punkie in the magic rabbit shot.

Additional Art

Punkie, as a character designer, has many creations pinned on his bulletin board. This one, Sea Monsters, was my creation. The crab creature on the right was the inspiration for one of my MerMay drawings from 2019.
